Juniperus communis - Common Juniper

Growth Habit - Shrub or tree depending on cultivar planting. (Native Plant to Colorado).

Branches - Triangular with projecting ridge, light brown to chestnut brown in color.

Leaves - All awl (needle) shaped, tapering from the base to a spiny point, sessile about 1/2
             to 3/4 inches long, blue-green in color with a broad white band above.

Fruit - Either sessile or short-stalked, globose or broadly ovoid, bluish black to black, and
          ripens the 2nd or 3rd season.
