TILIACEAE

Tilia cordata - Little Leaf Linden

Leaves - Alternate, simple, suborbicular, 1 1/4-2 1/4” long, sometimes broader than
             long, abruptly acuminate, cordate, sharply and rather finely serrate, dark green
             and glabrous and somewhat lustrous above, glaucous and glabrous beneath,
             except axillary tufts of brown hairs; petioles slender, 3/4-1 1/4” long.

Buds - Similar to Tilia americana, except smaller and brown.

Stem - Slender, lustrous brown, color continuous from current season’s growth
           inward.

Fruit - Nutlike structure subtended by a leafy bract.
