Leaves - Opposite, simple, ovate to
elliptic-obovate, two to four inches long, acuminate, broad
cuneate to rounded at base, finely toothed, glabrous or scurfy on the veins
beneath,
petiole 2/5 to 1 inch long, mostly winged with wavy margin.
Buds - Vegetative, valvate in nature,
long pointed, slightly curved, lead gray in color; flowe~
buds fat at base and tapering to a long point, 1” long.
Stem - Slightly pubescent to essentially glabrous, brownish in color.
Fruit - Bluish-black drupe persisting into winter.
Flower - Whitish creamy flat topped cymes 3-4 1/2” diameter.
