Ligustrum vulgare - European Privet

Leaves - Opposite, simple, entire to 2 1/2 inches long, elliptic to oblong, apex blunt or pointed;
             base-rounded, hairy on the midrib beneath, stalk hairy.

Twigs - Purplish when young, obviously hairy.

Flowers - White, June-July, small, calyx essentially hairless or sometimes slightly hairy at base, clusters
               to 2 1/2 inches long, upright, many-flowered, spike-like.

Growth Habit - A medium to large, dense, pyramidal, upright shrub with upright, lateral twigs.

Fruit - Lustrous, berry-like drupe persisting through winter.
